SAE BOARD MEMBERS
Mr. Yosi Ashkenazi – Chairman of the Board
Born in Turkey, Yosi Ashkenazi came to Israel as a small child, settling in Nes Tsiona, then a fledgling community of immigrants living in transit camps.
Yosi graduated from the first residential education campus established by SAE in 1964. For the past 20 years, Mr. Askenazi has worked in the private sector as a senior advisor in the field of collective bargaining and human resource management. He has served as SAE Chair since 1996.
Mr. Avraham Barashi
Mr. Barashi is a former Deputy Director of the Israeli Ministry of Education, and has served on the SAE board since 1999.
Mr. Dani Bar Giora
Mr. Bar Giora, the director of the Mandel School for Educational Leadership, transferred from hi-tec to education, first as a consultant, then as a teacher and academic leader. He taught high school mathematics and computers and for ten years was the principal of the Charles E. Smith High School for the Arts in Jerusalem. He was then appointed chief of implementation of the “Ofek Chadash” Reform in the Ministry of Education’s. Upon completing that task, Mr. Bar Giora was appointed director of the Jerusalem joint administration of education. He is a graduate of Hebrew University and class four of the Mandel School for Educational Leadership. He joined the SAE Board in 2016.
Prof. Dov Chernikovsky
Prof. Chernikovsky is a professor of Health Economics and Policy at Ben Gurion University, and a Fellow at the United States National Bureau of Economic Research. He is a 1964 SAE graduate from 1964, and a Board Member since 2008.
Mr. David Elani CPA
Mr. Elani is a chartered accountant, and serves as Chair of the SAE Finance Committee. He is a 1967 SAE graduate and Board member since 2006.
Dr. Yaakov Hadani
Dr. Hadani holds a PhD in Philosophy from Strasburg University in France, and is a former Director of the prestigious Lifshitz Institute for Jewish Education in Jerusalem. Dr. Hadani has served on the SAE Board since 2009.
Ms. Kaufman works in the field of business consulting, coaching and mentoring. She has been an SAE Board Member since 2015.
Dr. Pnina Scherzer
Dr. Scherzer is a senior researcher in the Department of Nephrology and Hypertension Laboratories at Hadassah University Hospital in Jerusalem. She is a 1971 SAE graduate and has been a Board Member since 1996.
Ms. Hana Sourkis
Ms. Sourkis is former SAE high school principal, and has served on the Board since 2004.
