With all participants vaccinated, supporters of the Society for Advancement of Education (SAE) met in person on November 9th at an informal reception graciously hosted by AFK Board Member Dr. Millie David in Manhattan.
Board members, donors and friends gathered to welcome SAE’s new VP Resource Development Anat Abramovich and to learn the latest about SAE’s ever-expanding roster of innovative educational programs for youth from all sectors of Israeli society — secular, orthodox, ultra-orthodox and Arab.

Kate Nachman, the Director of Outreach and Admissions for SAE’s new MBHS Internatonal High School , discussed the school’s mission and goals. It will be the first International Baccalaureate Jewish High School in Jersusalem when it opens in September, 2022. The school offers a two-year program taught in English for 11th and 12th graders. Applications from candidates from the United States will be accepted starting in January.
Also on hand were three graduates of SAE schools who explained how their high school experiences redirected the trajectory of their lives and enabled them to enjoy successful careers benefiting others — Dr. Eitan Melamed, at graduate of Steinberg Residential Campus, now Chief of Hand Surgery at Elmhurst Hospital in Queens, NY, and two graduates of Mae Boyar High School and Residence — Yefet Ozery, a Senior Advisor to SAE, and Dr. Joseph Ahram, an obstetrician-gynecologist in Manhattan for more than 40 years.
