Alumni, friends and supporters of Mae Boyar High School and Residence from the U.S., Israel and around the world are invited to participate in the one week RENEW BOYAR online fundraising campaign from November 8th to 15th.

“Boyar has been at the forefront of educational innovation for decades ,” says principal Dafne Menashe Baruch, “and we are proud to be counted among Israel’s leading high schools. But Boyar was built nearly 60 years ago. The RENEW BOYAR campaign will help us update our facilities and continue to provide cutting edge programs and the academic attention and extra personal support our talented students need to maximize their potential.”
The Mae Boyar High School was founded in 1964 through the vision and foresight of Los Angeles philanthropist Louis Boyar, who recognized the need for a high school that would unlock the potential of underserved Israeli students. Mr. Boyar established the school in Jerusalem as a memorial to his life partner and beloved wife, Mae.
Boyar was the first in what is now a network of 19 schools and residences throughout Israel run by the Society for Advancement of Education providing a high-quality high school education for students from all segments of Israeli society — secular, modern orthodox, ultra-orthodox and Arab.
Today Boyar is one of the most respected high schools in Israel with 1,000 students, 300 of whom from disadvantaged communities throughout Israel live in the Boyar residence. More than 90% of seniors pass the Israeli matriculation test each year. The school is dedicated to cultivating excellence in the scholastic performance of the students — in their social values, and in the fields of sports, culture, and the arts.
The RENEW BOYAR campaign features three specific programs and activities that directly benefit students:
- the “Pass It Forward” Social Entrepreneurial Program,
- the After-School Tutoring Program, and
- the Student Assistance Fund.
Donations of any size are appreciated and will be devoted in their entirety to these key programs or updating classrooms, labs and technology and refurbishing student living spaces in the residence.
Donations can be made easily and securely online at charidy.com/Boyar, by check to American Friends of Kidum, Renew Boyar, 333 Mamaroneck Ave. #184, White Plains, NY 10605, or by calling 914-860-4945.
